Print Ready Design-Layout Terms



font (serif & sans-serif)- sans typeface is one that does not have the small projecting features called "serifs" at the end of strokes.


margin- used in both print and Web publishing. In print, "margin" typically refers to page borders.



guide (illustrator guides)- help you to line control objects and paths easily in Illustrator


bleed- print more of the artwork that is located beyond the trim marks.


CMYK-  is a star-studded sensory extravaganzaillustration, graphic design 


image resolution-is the detail an image holds. The term applies to raster digital images, film images, and other types of images.


proof copy- copy of (a book, story, etc) made from trial impressions made from composed type, or print-outs 


artboard-  vector drawing software for everyone. Simple. Powerful. Fun.


registration mark-a distinctive mark or symbol to which a person or company has declared ownership by filing the trademark with the US Patent

1)Rule of thirds:a principle of the golden ratio with broad application as a "rule of thumb" or guideline which applies to the process of composing visual images such as designs,films, paintings, and photographs.


2)Resolution:the act of resolving or determining upon an action, course of action, method, procedure


3)Camera functions:An explanation of the;or functions on a video camera

4)Auto focus:a device that focuses a camera or other piece of equipment automatically.

5)White balance  (ISO):the ISO setting on a digital camera adjusts the sensor's sensitivity to light.The higher the ISO number, the more light-sensitive the sensor is forced to become.

6)shot timer:a device on a camera that gives a delay between pressing the shutter release and the shutter's firing.
